One artists book I found inspiring was What The Hell Are You Doing?: The Essential David Shrigley.
This book is full of simple and satirical illustrations, with interesting lines and marks, limited colour, and loads of personality. I love the idea of making a collection of simple yet creepy/weird illustrations, with some use of text.
